
Dr Yun Phua is a Specialist Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon with subspecialty fellowship training in reconstructive microsurgery and facial reconstructive and aesthetic surgery. He trained in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery in New Zealand and Australia, and subsequently undertook advanced microsurgical fellowship training at Uppsala University Hospital in Sweden.
Dr Phua is the Director of the Department of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at the Queensland Children’s Hospital and holds a clinical appointment at the Mater Hospital Brisbane. His practice spans both paediatric and adult populations. At the Queensland Children’s Hospital, he is part of a multidisciplinary team managing patients with complex vascular anomalies and congenital lymphoedema.
In addition to his clinical work, he is actively involved in surgical innovation and translational research. He is a collaborating clinician with the Herston Biofabrication Institute, contributing to research into regenerative tissue scaffolds to improve reconstructive outcomes.
